Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas is looking for a Lead Program Specialist in their Asset Development program to successfully promote and support the mission of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas as guided by the Catholic Social Teachings while leading implementation of long term strengthening programs. Position includes both direct service and coordination for assigned sites. Direct service includes: needs assessment, intensive case management services, financial coaching, monitoring appropriate action plans, consultation and situational support, information and referrals to internal programs and community resources. Site coordination: KLPP hotline screenings, caseload assignment, oversite of program financial education, facilitate employment services, and reporting data. EEO


Function 1: Operations

  • Support and facilitate the day-to-day operation of financial education and programming for assigned sites.
      • Ensure Financial Education Classes (MoneyTalk, Your Money Your Goals, or Community Partner Curriculum) is offered on a regular basis
      • Support budget coaching with Case Managers
      • Coordinate with Banking Partners for KLPP program
      • Ensure Job Board and Resource Centers are regularly updated
  • Conduct monthly staffing of cases within assigned sites to offer support and insight for additional resources.
  • Coordinate the Fundamental Financial Series implementation at each site to ensure participant compliance
  • Run and compile monthly reports and submit using Presidents Report form


Function 2: Outreach

  • Identify and pursue opportunities to recruit candidates for strengthening programs from community agencies.
  • Interface and conduct outreach with community groups to develop relationships and recruit for program.
  • Develop relationships with resources for employment opportunities.


  • Participate in advocacy opportunities within the community.
  • Serve on the AEI and Financial Inclusion committees as well as Money Smart Month Planning Committee.
  • Conduct/Coordinate Fundamental Financial Series with partnering agencies as part of community outreach


Function 3: Screening

  • Return all hotline calls for KLPP programming and complete screening eligibility form.
  • Determine eligibility for all strengthening programs utilizing screening tools (Arizona Matrix, detailed budgets, and/or program specific assessments)
  • Review cases with Director of Asset Development and recommend program entry approval or denial


Function 3: Case Management

  • Complete all assessments and develop a stabilization plan for all families
  • Assist clients in identifying and monitoring measurable and achievable goals with appropriate action steps
  • Monitor progress of families enrolled in the program through regularly scheduled visits.
  • Conduct monthly case management meetings which include: budget coaching, budget update, credit coaching, ect
  • Maintain case file for each client with appropriate documentation per guidelines and enter all necessary information into data system
  • Provide assistance as needed through available internal and external referrals
  • Ensure attendance of the Fundamental Financial Series




  • Establish highly effective relationships with clients, community agencies, volunteers, and related Catholic Charities organizations.
  • Coach through a Strengths Based Case Management model in working with vulnerable populations.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all clients. Ensure accuracy and attention to detail in record keeping
  • Operate within program budget.
  • Maintain records and report client statistics to Director of Asset Development
  • Provide monthly reports on respective program and responsibilities.
  • Participate in community meetings and committees as assigned.
  • Advocate for our brothers and sisters in need by networking and participating in community meetings as available
  • Other duties as assigned.



    • College Degree in human service field.  BSW/MSW preferred.
    • Experience in case management with an emphasis on budget coaching and monitoring finances

    • Experience in a goal and team oriented environment with a willingness to meet measurement criteria for projects and an ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
    • Must be self-motivated, innovative, have good organizational and planning skills, and work easily with diverse groups.
    • Must have a valid driver's license, reliable car and vehicle insurance
  • Must have hands-on ability to work with computer programs to include a proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and the Internet.
  • Strong writing, editing and interpersonal skills are essential.


Must be willing to be flexible with scheduling meetings which may include evenings
