POSITION SUMMARY

Successfully promote and support the mission of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas. The Foster Grandparent Program Director is a full-time employee who maintains over-all responsibility for the program, achievement of goals, and fiscal integrity.  The Director reports to the Director of Volunteers at Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas. DUTIES:

  1. In collaboration with the grants team, write the annual grant application to the Corporation for National and Community Service; monitor program progress on goals and expenses; write and submit all reports as required by the Corporation.
  2. Write the annual budget; monitor expenses and income; meet with appropriate accounting staff to assure the accuracy of reports; meet, review and provide information to the auditors during annual audit of program.
  3. Hire, train, and supervise paid staff.
  4. Maintain over-all responsibility for the recruitment, selection, and training of Foster Grandparents (FG); investigate any concern or grievance of the Foster Grandparent or the site; make decisions regarding a change in FG status or regarding the interpretation of policies.
  5. Monitor and assure the accuracy of all program records, including stipend payments and volunteer timesheets. Assure that all program procedures follow the policies set by the sponsor and the Corporation for National and Community Service.
  6. Develop, monitor and implement of program policies and procedures related to the FG's in cooperation with Advisory Counsel and Sponsor.
  7. Develop new volunteer stations and maintain relationships with the stations; negotiate a Memorandum of Understanding with each site every year.
  8. Maintain current knowledge of federal guidelines and practices, new information or technology or resources which would be beneficial to the program.
  9. Provide staff assistance to the Advisory Council and its committees.
  10. Along with the Advisory Council, plan and implement a recognition event and recognition program for the FG's.
  11. Plan and supervise an in-service training program for FG's which assures that all FG's receive at least forty hours of in-service training each year.
  12. Maintain cooperative working relationships with community service agencies and organizations, and with other Senior Corps programs.
  13. Plan and conduct a public relations program in cooperation with the sponsor; include internal communication mechanisms in the plan.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Utilize general office equipment such as phones, fax machines, copiers, e-mail, and computer software including Word, Excel, Publisher, and Access.
  2. Maintain confidentiality of all clients.
  3. Ensure accuracy in maintaining data on applicants/trainees, in all forms and program requirements and in assessing the impact of the program through performance measurement.

 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience with at least 3 years of management experience.
  • Must be willing to live by the agency's Values, where we are called to show Love, Patience, Kindness, Faithfulness, Self- Control and Joy
  • Supervisory experience with volunteers and staff
  • Experience with budgeting and fiscal management preferred
  • Ability to communicate with and respect people from a variety of social, economic and ethnic backgrounds
  • Experience working with the elderly population
  • Valid Missouri or Kansas Driver's license without restrictions. Must provide copy of Driver's License and proof of insurance for local travel

Foster Grandparents of Wyandotte County will be recognized as serving the needs of low-income seniors because of:

  • Successful accomplishment of federal goals for volunteer hours
  • Annual evaluation of the program
  • Increased income and involvement in community service for seniors participating in the program
  • Annual Foster Grandparent performance evaluations by their supervisors
  • Number of hours of service provided to the children by the Foster Grandparents
