Successfully promote and support the mission of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas as guided by the Catholic Social Teachings, while working to obtain financial resources to meet the organization's goals and objectives.  Duties include fundraising, event planning, event volunteer relations, and administrative support.


  • Supervises event planning staff of two and multiple volunteers.  Evaluates individual and team performance, provides feedback/coaching to ensure plans are achieved, and supports staff in development of career goals.
  • Provides strategy and leadership to the Snow Ball Patrons Committee generating more than $1 million in revenue annually, and the Snow Ball campaign including Patron Table logistics.
  • Directs and oversees coordination and delivery of the annual Golf Classic fundraising event.
  • Facilitates community fundraising efforts (i.e., cell phone collection, business "give back" nights, Christmas collection, etc.).
  • Works closely with Program Directors on program fundraising events and ensures fit with overall organizational strategy.
  • Participates in business development outreach activities as appropriate and in partnership with the Vice President of Development.
  • Ensure the Events Planning team works seamlessly with the Marketing, Grants, Development and Outreach teams.
  • All other duties as assigned.


  • Demonstrates passion for the mission of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas.
  • Must be willing to live by the agency's Values, where we are called to show Love, Joy, Patience, Kindness, Faithfulness, and Self-Control.
  • Bachelor's degree and five years of event planning experience, preferably large events serving 500 or more.
  • Proven experience leading teams, recruiting talent, evaluating individual and team performance, providing feedback and coaching for success.
  • Proven experience setting and managing budgets.  Track record in delivering events at or under budget.
  • Preserves the ethical standards of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas and the development profession.
  • Effective communication skills:  written, verbal, non-verbal, presentation, and consensus building.  Ability to listen and take direction.
  • Self-starter and ability to work well independently and with diverse individuals and groups.
  • High motivation for success coupled with diplomacy, tact, excellent organizational, project management, and customer relations skills.  Ability to set priorities and meet deadlines while working under pressure.
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Willingness to work during evenings and weekends as needed.


  • Develops highly effective working relationship with staff, volunteers and the Catholic Charities management team.
  • Management of function within established budgetary guidelines.
  • Effectively partners with others in the group and across the organization to achieve strategic organizational priorities.
  • Snow Ball Patrons Committee generates more than $1 million in revenue annually.
  • Employee and volunteer relations, including turnover and performance management issues.
