Position Summary
Successfully promote and support the mission of Catholic Charities of Northeast Kansas as guided by the Catholic Social Teachings. The billing/collections clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely completion and submission of Medicare, Medicaid, private payer and patient billing, as well as accounts receivable tracking and follow-up of claims. Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities
- Accurately processes and bills Medicare, Medicaid, private payer and patient claims in accordance with payer requirements and organization policy.
- Responsible for filing Notice of Election (NOE) data into MCR DDE system within the filing guidelines.
- Responsible for filing the Notice of Election into the KMAP system for Kansas Medicaid recipients.
- Responsible for obtaining authorization for Kansas Medicaid Room & Board recipients based on the MCO's guidelines.
- Assists in the preparation of monthly billing and accounts receivable reports.
- Maintains accurate Medicare and Medicaid billing analysis reports.
- Maintains complete and accurate billing and accounts receivable records.
- Prepares Medicare, Medicaid, private payer and patient remittances for data entry.
- Alerts appropriate management team members regarding late or missing documents required for billing.
- Assists with the collection of receivables by monitoring accounts receivables, resubmitting bills to overdue accounts, and alerting the billing manager of seriously overdue accounts.
- Responsible for billing In Home Support Johnson County and Private Pay Claims.
- Responsible for posting cash for In Home Support.
- Responsible to communicate with the Business Office Manager and Director of In Home Support any outstanding claim issues.
- Assist in answering phone calls.
- Assist in Intake process as needed.
- Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with patients, payers, and other customers.
- Maintains the confidentiality of patient and organization information at all times.
- Performs other specific projects relating to billing, data entry, and computer operations as required.
Position Qualifications

- At least two (2) years of previous health care related billing experience required, preferably in hospice care billing.
- Experience with KS Medicaid program required.
- Able to use IBM-compatible systems and equipment.
- Is a high school graduate or equivalent required, two (2) years college preferred.
